Construction of onion storage huts

"Improving post-harvest operations through better conservation of production from the fields" is one of the major challenges of the #PADFA. Thus, the program has provided for the construction of 300 onion storage huts in the five regions of the Program in order to maintain the quality of this product until sale. After the conclusive test on the five pilot huts built by an expert in the field, the PCU entrusted the construction of the remaining 295 huts to the Interprofessional Fund for Agricultural Research and Advice (#firca). It is within this framework that the PCU, the delegation of #firca, led by Jean-Paul LORGN, Coordinator of the said project and the representatives of the Expert met on June 20, 2023, at the program headquarters in Korhogo to discuss the terms of the implementation of this activity. At the end of this meeting, a timetable for the implementation of this project was drawn up. It includes five (5) main parts: (i) identify and select the 25 local craftsmen, (ii) identify the beneficiary OPAs of the pilot huts, (iii) sign the contracts, (iv) train the local craftsmen and (v) draw lessons from the pilot phase. The implementation of the timetable will make it possible to build ten huts in three months and to have competent craftsmen for the construction of four (40) huts before the end of the year.
